The Bowmanville Branch Library will host a hybrid event for youth, providing them with the essential tools and knowledge to safely stay at home alone for short periods of time. The “At Home On My Own” course is specifically designed to empower youth with the skills and confidence needed to manage situations independently at home, giving them the confidence to stay safe when parents or guardians are away.
This course will provide youth with the basics of home safety, emergency procedures, and how to effectively manage their time when at home alone. The training will address important topics like first aid, dealing with emergencies, managing food safety, and making responsible decisions. The goal is to ensure that young people are prepared to handle a range of situations in a safe and responsible manner.
The course will be offered both in-person at the Bowmanville Branch Library and virtually, allowing flexibility for families to participate either from the comfort of their homes or by attending in person. Whether you’re joining from home or at the library, this interactive course will help guide young people on how to stay safe, confident, and independent while at home alone.
