Oshawa, Ontario – Fans of the Goo Goo Dolls in Oshawa were disappointed after the band announced the cancellation of their April 1, 2026 concert at the Tribute Communities Centre. While it might have seemed like an April Fool’s joke, the cancellation was confirmed by the band on social media, citing illness as the reason for the change in plans.
In the statement, the Goo Goo Dolls mentioned that one of the band members had fallen ill, though they did not specify which member was affected. However, fans who attended previous shows reported that John Rzeznik, the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist, appeared to be struggling with flu-like symptoms. The band also canceled a show in Sault Ste. Marie the previous evening.
“It pains us to announce that, due to illness, tonight’s show at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa has been cancelled,” the statement read. “All tickets can be refunded at the place of purchase. We do plan on being at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton tomorrow.”
Refund Process for Oshawa Concertgoers
For those who purchased tickets for the Oshawa show, the Tribute Communities Centre confirmed that customers who paid online or over the phone would receive automatic refunds by next week. It’s important to note that refunds might take a few days to appear on statements depending on bank processing times.
For those who bought tickets in person using cash, Interac, or Visa Debit, they will need to return their tickets to the Tribute Centre ticket office during regular business hours to receive their refund. The deadline for ticket returns is April 30, 2026.
What’s Next for the Goo Goo Dolls Tour
While the Oshawa concert has been canceled, the Goo Goo Dolls are scheduled to perform at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton the following evening, and the show is still set to go on as planned. The band’s fans are eagerly awaiting the Hamilton performance, hoping for a swift recovery for the affected band member.
