The Beer Store has announced the closure of four additional locations in Ontario, continuing a wave of shutdowns linked to the province’s expanded alcohol retail marketplace.
The company confirmed that three stores will close on January 11, 2026, followed by one additional location on January 18. These closures come after seven Beer Store outlets shut their doors on November 16, marking another step in the company’s ongoing operational restructuring.
The Beer Store has been adjusting its footprint as Ontario allows alcohol sales through a broader range of retailers, including convenience stores and other outlets, significantly increasing competition in the marketplace.
“The Beer Store is evolving operations to meet the changing needs of a modernized retail market,” said Ozzie Ahmed, Vice President of Retail at The Beer Store. “Unfortunately, this includes making the difficult decision to close retail locations. We know this is difficult news for consumers, recyclers, and our employees.”
The company has not indicated whether further closures are planned beyond January but acknowledged that the changing retail landscape continues to influence long-term decisions.
Details on the specific locations scheduled to close were released alongside the announcement.
