Durham Weekly Weather Starts Warm and Humid

Monday, July 27 will begin with sunny periods before cloud cover increases during the afternoon.

Oshawa and southern Durham have a 40 per cent chance of afternoon showers and a risk of thunderstorms. The temperature should reach 27 C, with the humidity making it feel closer to 33. The UV index is forecast at eight, which is considered very high.

Uxbridge and northern Durham could reach 28 C, with a humidex of 35. The chance of afternoon showers is also 40 per cent, with thunderstorms possible.

The likelihood of rain increases Monday night. Environment Canada forecasts a 70 per cent chance of showers across the region, along with another thunderstorm risk. Overnight temperatures should fall to approximately 18 C.

Rain and Gusty Winds Possible Tuesday

Tuesday is expected to be noticeably cooler and wetter.

Southern Durham will be mainly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms. Easterly winds could gust to 40 km/h before becoming northerly and increasing to gusts near 50 km/h late in the afternoon.

The daytime high is expected to reach only 23 C, with a humidex near 29. The UV index should remain high at six.

The 60 per cent chance of showers continues Tuesday night, with temperatures falling to approximately 16 C.

Residents attending outdoor events should prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Drivers may encounter reduced visibility, standing water and stronger crosswinds during heavier showers.

Showers Continue Wednesday

Wednesday, July 29 will remain cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of showers across much of Durham.

The daytime high should reach approximately 24 C before skies begin clearing Wednesday night. The overnight low is forecast near 15 C.

Wednesday appears less humid than Monday, but outdoor plans could still be interrupted by scattered rain.

Sunshine Returns Thursday and Friday

Thursday is forecast to be sunny, with a high near 27 C.

Clear skies are expected Thursday night, with temperatures dropping to approximately 15 C.

Friday should provide another sunny and warmer day. The temperature is forecast to reach 28 C before clouds increase during the evening. Friday night’s low should remain near 17 C.

These two days currently offer the most favourable conditions for outdoor recreation, beach visits, construction and community events. Residents should still check the UV forecast and use sunscreen, sunglasses and protective clothing.

Clouds Return for the Weekend

Saturday, August 1 is expected to be cloudy with a high near 27 C.

A 30 per cent chance of showers returns Saturday night, followed by a 40 per cent chance on Sunday. Sunday’s daytime high is currently forecast at approximately 24 C.

The Durham weekly weather forecast remains subject to change, particularly the timing and location of thunderstorms. Residents should check Environment Canada before travelling or attending outdoor activities.
