Durham Region casino revenue exceeded $5.3 million in the third quarter of the 2025–26 fiscal year, with hosting payments distributed to Pickering, Ajax, and the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.
Pickering, home to the Pickering Casino Resort, received just under $3.8 million in third-quarter hosting income. This brings the city’s total casino revenue for the current fiscal year to more than $13 million. Since the casino opened in July 2021, Pickering has collected over $72.5 million in hosting revenue.
Ajax earned $922,677 in Durham Region casino revenue during the third quarter for hosting Casino Ajax. The town’s total for the fiscal year now stands at nearly $3.1 million, with cumulative earnings exceeding $114 million since the gaming site opened in 2006.
The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation received $587,617 in Durham Region casino revenue for hosting the Great Blue Heron Casino. Since the casino’s opening in 2000, the First Nation has received close to $38.2 million in hosting payments.
Hosting payments are calculated under Ontario’s Municipality Contribution Agreement, which applies a standardized formula based on gaming revenue. Since 1994, Ontario casino host communities have received nearly $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue, supporting local services, infrastructure, and economic development across the province.
