The Durham Region affordable housing program is now accepting applications from public and private sector partners interested in expanding affordable rental housing across the region.
Through the At Home Incentive Program (AHIP), the Region of Durham is offering $8 million in funding to projects that can deliver a minimum of five affordable housing units. Eligible proposals may include new construction, conversions of non-residential buildings, expansions to existing developments, or redevelopment of community housing to increase affordable supply.
The Durham Region affordable housing program is designed to encourage collaboration with developers and housing providers to address growing housing needs across Durham’s municipalities.
The application deadline for the current intake is April 2. Interested applicants can find full program details and eligibility criteria at durham.ca/AHIP.
This marks the fourth call for applications under AHIP. Over the past three years, Durham Regional Council has approved $30.5 million in funding, contributing to the creation of 350 new affordable rental units in Ajax, Clarington, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge, and Whitby.
