A 37-year-old driver from Oshawa is facing serious penalties after being stopped for excessive speeding on Highway 407 in Durham Region.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division, the driver was clocked travelling at 190 km/h on the westbound lanes of Highway 407 near Darlington–Clarke Townline Road in Clarington, where the posted speed limit is 100 km/h.
Whitby OPP officers intercepted the vehicle on Friday, bringing the high-speed drive to an abrupt end. Police confirmed the driver was issued a 14-day vehicle impound and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension.
OPP did not disclose the amount of the fine associated with the charge.
