A Clarington ramp crash sent one person to hospital on Tuesday, October 27, according to an Ontario Provincial Police traffic advisory.

In its 12:55 p.m. notice, OPP GTA Traffic said the westbound Highway 401 ramp to Highway 115 was closed following a single-vehicle collision. Police said the person’s injuries were being assessed.

Ramp reopened Tuesday afternoon

In a later update marked 4:30 p.m., police said the ramp had reopened and described the injuries as serious but non-life-threatening. The original advisory had said the injuries were still being assessed.

Police asked motorists to use alternate routes while the ramp was closed. This Clarington ramp crash notice was separate from scheduled highway maintenance in the municipality.

Police did not identify the injured person or announce a cause or charges in the posts reviewed. The ramp closure was no longer listed in Ontario 511’s live incident list during the early October 28 check, consistent with the police reopening notice.

Drivers should check Ontario 511 for current conditions rather than relying on an earlier collision advisory.
