A Brooklin Valentine Card Exchange turned Valentine’s Day into an international celebration for kindergarten students at St. John Paul II Catholic School in Brooklin.
Families were invited to participate by sharing the initiative with friends and relatives near and far. Each student handmade a Valentine’s card that included a fact about living in Ontario or Brooklin, a message of kindness, and decorative stickers.
The Brooklin Valentine Card Exchange extended well beyond Durham Region, Ontario, and even Canada. Students exchanged cards with participants across all Canadian provinces, as well as the United States, Australia, England, the Philippines, and other countries.
The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) said students are eagerly awaiting responses as the exchange continues to grow.
“My kindergarten students have said they love making people happy. Their favourite part is sending heartfelt messages to thank the senders for participating in this Valentine’s Day initiative,” said Mrs. Patton. “This project teaches valuable literacy, math, and geography skills while also celebrating joy, love, and community connection
