Book lovers in Durham Region will have the opportunity to meet two celebrated authors during a special Author Brunch event in Uxbridge on March 8, 2026, as part of the Book Drunkard Festival.
The literary event will take place at the Wooden Sticks Golf Club, located at 40 Elgin Park Drive in Uxbridge, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The brunch gathering will feature New York Times bestselling author Sadeqa Johnson and Métis author Tara Gereaux, who will discuss their newest novels with readers.
The event is organized by Blue Heron Books, a well-known independent bookstore in Uxbridge that regularly hosts literary events and author talks for readers across Durham Region.
During the Author Brunch with Sadeqa Johnson and Tara Gereaux, the authors will be interviewed by Kath Jonathan, offering guests an inside look at the inspiration behind their latest works and the creative processes that shaped their stories.
Sadeqa Johnson will present her new novel “Keeper of Lost Children.” Johnson is widely recognized for her bestselling book “The House of Eve,” and her latest work explores how the vision of an American woman living in post–World War II Germany unexpectedly connects the lives of three different individuals.
Tara Gereaux will discuss her novel “Wild People Quiet,” a powerful story that examines identity, belonging, and personal history. The novel follows a woman who hides her Métis identity while living in a small prairie town in the 1940s, revealing the emotional and social consequences of that decision.
The novel has drawn attention for its thoughtful exploration of identity and heritage and has been recommended for readers who enjoyed works such as “The Berry Pickers,” books by Tommy Orange, and “The Vanishing Half.”
Guests attending the event will enjoy a book-themed brunch experience, offering an opportunity to interact with the authors, hear about their stories, and participate in the literary discussion.
Tickets for the event are $65 per person, and each ticket includes a voucher that can be used toward the purchase of one of the featured books presented during the event.
