Ajax reconciliation reflections created by Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School students are on display for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The Durham Catholic District School Board says students placed Orange Shirt designs and written reflections in the main foyer on September 29.
Each homeroom had an opportunity to learn about the experiences and history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and discuss what students learned. They then expressed their ideas on orange paper shirts.
The board says the display reinforces learning from the past, honouring residential-school Survivors and their families, and continuing the journey toward truth and understanding.
The school notice does not list public viewing hours, so the display should be understood as a school learning activity.
