A 64-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Oshawa late Wednesday night.
Durham police say the collision occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on December 31 in the area of Simcoe Street North and Byng Avenue. Investigators determined the pedestrian was in the roadway when he was struck by a southbound Ford hatchback.
The 28-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with police.
The injured man was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains in critical condition.
Members of the Durham Regional Police Service Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene. The roadway was closed for several hours as officers collected evidence and conducted their investigation.
