A new Clarington wallet theft and fraud appeal asks residents to help Durham Regional Police identify a suspect after a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle and its credit cards were used for unauthorized purchases.
The identification request was issued November 6, 2026. Police date the theft itself to July 7, 2026; the announcement is a new appeal about that earlier incident, not a report that the theft happened this week.
Wallet taken from a parked vehicle
According to police, the suspect entered an unlocked vehicle parked at a Clarington residence and took a wallet containing credit cards. The cards were subsequently used to make purchases without authorization.
Investigators also believe the suspect may be responsible for another theft from a vehicle in the same area. That possible connection is a police assessment, rather than an announced charge or court finding.
Description released
Police describe the suspect as a male approximately 40 to 60 years old, with a bald or closely shaved head, a light-coloured goatee and a medium build.
He was described as wearing a maroon or red shirt, a black, white and grey plaid overshirt, dark pants rolled above the ankles, white socks and white athletic shoes with dark laces.
The Central East Criminal Investigations Branch is asking anyone with information about the Clarington wallet theft and fraud investigation to contact Detective Constable Salesman at 905-579-1520, extension 1605.
The release does not announce an arrest, identify a street or specify the value of the unauthorized purchases.
