A new Glenanna Road closure notice changes the area affected by watermain construction in Pickering from Monday, November 2, through Monday, November 16.
The City of Pickering’s October 29 announcement identifies the closed road section and east sidewalk as running from the north limit of The Esplanade North to the Health Services Centre entrance, approximately 100 metres south of Kingston Road.
Access to health centre from Kingston Road
The west sidewalk on Glenanna Road between Pickering Parkway and The Esplanade North will also remain closed. The city says vehicle and pedestrian detours are provided, with applicable signs posted.
Access to the Health Services Centre at 1885 Glenanna Road will be from Glenanna Road via Kingston Road. People heading to appointments should use that approach and follow the posted directions.
Different section and timetable
The purpose is installation of the Region of Durham’s watermain. This is a material change from the earlier Glenanna Road closure reported by All About Durham, which covered the road and west sidewalk from Pickering Parkway to the south limit of The Esplanade South through November 2.
The new notice moves the stated road closure north and gives a November 16 end date. It does not set out a revised route-by-route bus schedule, so travellers should check Durham Region Transit separately rather than assume older detours remain unchanged.
Pickering’s service disruption line is 1-866-278-9993. The city’s linked notice and location map provide the current construction boundaries.
