An Oshawa facility operator vacancy at Delpark Homes Centre is open for applications until Thursday, November 12 at 4:30 p.m.
The City posted the regular full-time Class B Facility Operator position, also identified as Facility Attendant 2, on October 22. The vacancy carries job identification number J1026-0254 and sits within Facility Operations and Maintenance Services in the Community and Operations Department.
Pay and working arrangements
The advertised hourly rate is $37.84 to $39.84, with a standard 40-hour work week. Shift work is required.
The posting says applicants must be able to work rotating shifts for a seven-day operation and overtime on short notice. Delpark Homes Centre is the location listed when the job was posted, but the City notes that assignments may change to meet operational needs.
Arena operations and building maintenance
Responsibilities include operating and maintaining refrigeration equipment, making ice, and using an ice-resurfacing machine and ice edger. The role also includes preventive maintenance, caretaking, minor repairs, equipment records and responding to routine questions from facility users.
Additional assigned work can involve heating and ventilation equipment, grounds maintenance and, when required, pool or spa maintenance. The full posting describes the physical demands, safety duties and customer-service expectations.
Qualifications applicants need
Applicants must have a TSSA Refrigeration B Certificate and Certified Ice Technician certification through ORFA, along with three years of arena-operations experience. The City identifies pool-operator certification and previous pool experience as assets.
The posting also lists risk-management or legal-awareness certification, scissor-lift and working-from-heights training, a valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence, and other safety or training requirements. A criminal-record check with vulnerable-sector search is a condition of employment for the successful candidate.
Residents interested in the Oshawa facility operator vacancy should review the complete municipal posting and apply through the City’s current-opportunities page. The City says only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted and that assessment may include written, oral or practical testing.
