The Oshawa Generals Sarnia game ended in a 4-0 road loss Friday night as the Sting kept Oshawa off the scoresheet despite 35 shots on goal.
Sarnia opened the scoring at 14:00 of the first period and added two goals in the second before completing the shutout with a third-period power-play goal.
Sarnia scored once in the first
Simon Katolicky produced the eventual winning goal, his third of the season, with assists from Chase Gaughan and Cameron Aucoin.
Alessandro Di Iorio made it 2-0 just 46 seconds into the second period on the power play. Jack Van Volsen and Easton Walos received the assists.
Matthew Manza extended the lead at 19:21 of the second, assisted by Van Volsen and Cole Emerton. Logan Hawery completed the scoring at 15:13 of the third on another Sarnia power play, with assists from Walos and Di Iorio.
Oshawa put 35 shots on goal
Sarnia goaltender Ivan Tkach-Tkachenko stopped all 35 Oshawa shots for the shutout. The official game data lists Jaden Cholette with 26 saves on 30 Sting shots for the Generals.
The Generals had power-play opportunities but could not convert. Sarnia scored twice with the man advantage, including the early second-period goal that doubled its lead.
Official attendance at Progressive Auto Sales Arena was 3,786. The game began shortly after 7:05 p.m. EDT on October 9.
Second Sarnia shutout in six days
The result was separate from Sarnia’s 3-0 win in Oshawa on October 4. All About Durham reported that earlier game, and the October 9 contest passed a date, score, venue, source and content duplicate check before publication.
Friday’s loss left the Generals with a 3-6-0 record in the official scorebar after the final result. The Sting improved to 6-2-1.
