A list of Durham highway closures includes 32 scheduled restrictions for provincial-road work affecting routes through Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Scugog and Brock.
The October 9 list includes projects ending Friday as well as work scheduled to begin after the Thanksgiving weekend. Drivers should confirm conditions through Ontario 511 before travelling because construction schedules can change.
Highway 401 work affects several municipalities
In Clarington, one alternating westbound lane on Highway 401 between Highway 35/115 and Liberty Street is scheduled to close daily until 3 p.m. October 9. A separate closure on the same section is listed for October 13 to 15, with more work planned October 19 to 22.
In Oshawa, alternating eastbound and westbound lanes between Ritson Road and Harmony Road are scheduled to close overnight. Some work ends the morning of October 9, while additional restrictions are listed for October 13 to 17.
In Ajax, up to four alternating express lanes in each direction near Westney Road are listed for overnight work through October 14. Pickering restrictions include a right eastbound lane between Whites Road and Brock Road overnight October 13 to 14.
Brief, police-assisted full closures are also listed for Highway 401 in Ajax and Pickering overnight November 7 to 8. The notice says each full closure is expected to last about 15 minutes.
Highways 407 and 412 also affected
On Highway 407, overnight ramp restrictions are scheduled at Baldwin Street South in Whitby from October 13 to 17. A short continuous eastbound left-lane closure between Kinsale Road in Ajax and Lake Ridge Road in Whitby is listed for early October 13.
Alternating ramp closures are also planned at the Highway 412 truck inspection station in Whitby in both directions from October 13 to 17.
In Clarington, one alternating Highway 407 lane at Darlington-Clarke Townline is scheduled to close in each direction during the day on October 14.
North Durham routes carry additional work

A right northbound lane on Highway 7/12 between Blue Mountain Road in Scugog and Brock Township Concession Road 2 is scheduled to remain closed during the day until noon October 9.
Highway 12 restrictions are also listed north of Highway 48 near the Brock-Ramara boundary and farther north near the Talbot River bridge. Some of those projects extend through late October and early November.
The Durham highway closures list also includes Highway 35 and 35/115 work. Drivers should allow extra time, obey work-zone signs and use the live provincial map for the latest lane status.
