Lake Ridge Road reconstruction is scheduled to begin the week of October 5 in Brock and Uxbridge, bringing daily lane restrictions to a section of Regional Road 23 while crews rebuild the roadway and improve drainage.
The Regional Municipality of Durham has hired Dufferin Construction for the project, which covers Lake Ridge Road from 200 metres north of Ravenshoe Road to 75 metres south of Concession Road 7. The work is expected to continue in stages until July 31, 2027, subject to weather and construction conditions.
What the Lake Ridge Road work includes
According to an October 2 construction notice published by the Township of Brock on behalf of Durham Region, crews will pulverize the existing asphalt before placing new granular material and pavement. The contract also includes culvert replacement, drainage-ditch improvements and new street lighting.
The schedule divides the work into seasonal phases. Ditching and culvert replacement are planned for fall 2026. Road reconstruction, including pulverizing the current surface and laying new asphalt, is expected to take place in spring 2027.
Construction activity is scheduled to pause for winter from December 1, 2026, through May 1, 2027. The overall completion date remains July 31, 2027.
Daily lane restrictions and delays expected
Daily lane restrictions will be required for the duration of the project. Durham Region is advising drivers to allow additional travel time and use caution around workers, pedestrians and cyclists in the construction area.
People living or working near the project may also notice construction noise and ground vibration from heavy equipment. The Region says it will work to complete the project as safely and efficiently as possible.
Lake Ridge Road forms the boundary between the townships of Brock and Uxbridge in this area, making the reconstruction relevant to residents and commuters in both northern Durham communities. The project area begins just north of Ravenshoe Road and continues south of Concession Road 7.
The timing of individual activities may change because of weather or on-site conditions. Drivers should watch for temporary traffic controls and follow directions from construction personnel as work progresses.
