The Dunmoore dog park closure in Pickering has been extended through Friday, October 9, after poor weather and site conditions delayed lighting work.
The City of Pickering said the entire off-leash area remains unavailable while new lighting is installed. Construction is now expected to resume during the week of September 28.
Reopening delayed again
Dunmoore Dog Park had previously been scheduled to reopen on September 18. An earlier manufacturing delay had already moved the completion date from August, and the latest notice adds another three weeks to the closure.
Pickering apologized for the continuing inconvenience and said it plans to reopen the park as soon as conditions allow. The notice does not promise that the park will open earlier than October 9 or describe any change to the scope of the lighting project.
Residents should continue to follow barriers and closure signs around the work area. Weather and ground conditions can affect outdoor construction schedules, so dog owners should check the City’s notice before travelling to the park.
Other Pickering leash-free areas
Pickering’s other designated off-leash options include Balsdon Park and Grand Valley Park. Dogs should remain leashed until they are inside a designated fenced area, and visitors should confirm that their chosen park is open.
The latest extension is a material change from the September 18 reopening date reported in the city’s previous notice. It does not indicate that the rest of Dunmoore Park is closed.
