An Uxbridge instructor charges case has expanded after Ontario Provincial Police said a second complainant was identified in an investigation involving a former Teen Ranch worker and ice-skating instructor.

Police re-arrested Alexander Armitage, 33, of Uxbridge on Wednesday, September 16. He now faces three counts each of sexual assault on a person under 16, invitation to sexual touching involving a person under 16, and sexual interference.

He is also charged with making sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 and forcible confinement. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Investigation began after a 2023 allegation

Caledon OPP began investigating in February after receiving a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a young person in 2023. Police announced an initial arrest in April and said the accused had worked at Teen Ranch in Caledon and as an ice-skating instructor.

Investigators said another complainant came forward after the first public appeal. The additional allegations led to the September re-arrest and expanded list of charges.

Police said Armitage is no longer employed by Teen Ranch. The organization has cooperated with the investigation, according to the OPP statement reported by Durham Radio News and INsauga.

Police ask families to review past interactions

Investigators are asking parents and guardians to speak with their children about any interactions they may have had with the accused through Teen Ranch or skating instruction. Anyone with information about alleged sexual misconduct is being asked to contact police.

The OPP released the accused’s name and photographs, saying the step was taken in the interest of public safety and to encourage other possible complainants or witnesses to come forward.

The Durham connection is the accused’s Uxbridge residence and his reported work as a skating instructor. The investigation is being led by Caledon OPP because the alleged incidents are connected to Teen Ranch in Caledon.

An arrest or criminal charge is not a finding of guilt; the case must proceed through the court process.
