Oshawa Remembrance Day services will include regular waste collection and open recreation facilities on Wednesday, November 11, while City Hall customer service and the animal shelter close to the public.
The City issued the operational update November 4, separately from its earlier parade and road-closure information. Residents should distinguish municipal counter hours from the collection and recreation services that will continue.
Service Oshawa and animal shelter
Service Oshawa will be closed on November 11. Customer service representatives will be available on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the City says.
The Oshawa Animal Shelter will also be closed to public visits on Remembrance Day. People who need to report an injured or stray animal can call the City at 905-436-3311.
Garbage pickup and recreation continue
There will be no change to waste collection service on Wednesday. Residents can check their individual collection calendar through the City’s collection-schedule webpage or the Durham Region Waste app.
Recreation facilities will operate with regular hours for activities, programs and facility permits, according to the notice. Those general operating arrangements should not be confused with a guarantee that every individual activity has space available.
Parade and service at Memorial Park
Residents can mark the day at Oshawa’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service at Memorial Park or watch the live broadcast on Rogers Durham. The City directs people to its Remembrance Day event page for details.
The City’s previously announced parade-related street closures remain a separate travel consideration for people heading downtown. The new service notice does not announce a cancellation of the ceremony or a change to that road-closure plan.
