An Ajax carjacking left a man with serious injuries after at least three suspects attacked him outside his home and stole his vehicle, Durham Regional Police say.
Officers from West Division responded to an armed-person call near Randall Drive and Macey Court at about midnight on Tuesday, September 15.
Police say suspects tried to force victim into vehicle
According to investigators, the man had returned to his residence and was getting out of his vehicle when at least three unknown males approached him.
Police allege the group assaulted the man and tried to force him back into the vehicle. The victim escaped before the suspects drove away in it.
Officers searched the area but did not find the suspects. The stolen vehicle was later located unoccupied in Pickering.
The victim suffered serious injuries that police described as non-life-threatening. DRPS did not release a suspect description or identify the vehicle in its public notice.
Investigators seek video and witnesses
The West Crime Team is asking residents and drivers who may have relevant cellphone, dash-camera or surveillance footage to contact investigators. Police are also seeking anyone with information about the Ajax carjacking.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through Durham Regional Crime Stoppers. Police noted that the information reflects allegations gathered during an active investigation and has not been tested in court.
