The Durham Region weather forecast for Tuesday, August 4, calls for bright sunshine, temperatures near 28 C and humidex values reaching 36. Environment and Climate Change Canada’s updated regional forecast indicates that both southern and northern Durham will be warmer and more humid than earlier forecasts suggested.

The sunny conditions apply across Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock. No weather alerts were in effect for the region when the latest forecast was issued, but the combination of humidity and a very high ultraviolet index means residents should take precautions while spending time outdoors.

Durham Region Weather Warmer Than Earlier Forecast

Environment Canada’s 11 a.m. forecast lists a high of 28 C for Pickering, Oshawa and southern Durham Region. The humidex is expected to reach 36, making the afternoon feel considerably warmer than the measured air temperature.

Northern Durham communities, including Uxbridge and Beaverton, are also forecast to reach 28 C with a humidex of 36. The revised figures are higher than the previously reported Durham high of 26 C and humidex values between 29 and 31.

Hourly conditions for Oshawa show temperatures climbing through the afternoon under sunny skies. The humidex may reach 33 by 2 p.m., 35 by 4 p.m. and 36 around 5 p.m. The chance of precipitation remains near zero through the daytime and evening.

Clear Skies Expected Tuesday Night

Clear conditions are expected to continue after sunset. The latest regional bulletin calls for an overnight low of 14 C in southern Durham, with fog patches developing in some areas. Northern Durham is expected to fall to approximately 13 C.

Sunset in Oshawa is at approximately 8:36 p.m., giving residents a long evening for parks, patios and other outdoor activities. Drivers should remain alert for localized fog late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Forecast values can differ slightly between local Environment Canada products as updates are issued throughout the day. Residents making weather-sensitive plans should check the latest location-specific forecast before leaving home.

Very High UV Index Across Durham

The UV index is forecast to reach 9, which Environment Canada classifies as very high. At this level, unprotected skin can burn quickly, especially during the strongest period of sunlight.

Federal sun-safety guidance recommends limiting extended exposure between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., seeking shade and wearing clothing that covers exposed skin. People spending time outdoors should use broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, wear UV-protective sunglasses and reapply sunscreen after swimming or heavy sweating.

The humid conditions also make hydration important. Residents working, exercising or attending outdoor activities should drink water regularly and take breaks in a shaded or air-conditioned area when needed.

Sunny Wednesday Before Showers Return

Wednesday is expected to remain sunny after any morning fog dissipates. The latest regional forecast calls for a high near 29 C, a humidex around 34 and another very high UV index of 9.

Conditions are expected to become less settled later in the week. Environment Canada’s Oshawa outlook shows a 40 per cent chance of showers on Thursday, followed by a 30 per cent chance on Friday and Saturday. Daytime highs are forecast near 27 C Thursday, 25 C Friday and 26 C Saturday.

The Durham Region weather outlook therefore provides two mainly sunny days before clouds and scattered showers become possible. Forecast details can change as the week progresses, so residents should continue monitoring official updates, particularly before weekend events or extended outdoor plans.
