The Ajax IHOP opening is set for Tuesday, August 4, bringing the pancake chain to Durham Region as part of Ontario’s first fully integrated Applebee’s and IHOP restaurant. The restaurant will officially welcome the public at 10 a.m. on opening day. After the launch, the Ajax location is expected to operate daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing customers to order IHOP breakfast favourites as well as Applebee’s lunch and dinner selections seven days a week.
Free Pancakes Offered to First 100 Guests
The first 100 guests attending the Ajax IHOP opening will receive a free-pancake promotion that can be redeemed weekly for four consecutive weeks. The opening celebration will also include the unveiling of a signature pancake tower to mark IHOP’s arrival in Ajax and the wider Durham Region.
Customers interested in the giveaway should remember that the restaurant opens to the public at 10 a.m. on August 4, even though its regular daily schedule is expected to begin at 7 a.m. after launch day. Dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP restaurants are part of a wider strategy from Dine Brands, the parent company of both chains. The company says the format combines complementary menus and allows one location to meet a broader range of dining preferences.
Partnership Will Support Feed the Need in Durham
The grand-opening event will also introduce a year-round partnership with Feed the Need in Durham. Complete details of the restaurant’s fundraising or food-support activities have not yet been announced, but more information is expected during the August 4 celebration.
Feed the Need in Durham is the region’s central emergency food distribution organization. It collects, rescues and distributes more than two million pounds of food and household essentials annually to approximately 70 food banks, shelters, meal programs, school nutrition initiatives and social-service organizations.
The partnership adds a local charitable component to the restaurant’s arrival in Ajax while helping raise awareness of food insecurity and the growing demand faced by emergency food programs throughout Durham Region.

The Ajax IHOP opening gives residents another breakfast and casual-dining option along the Kingston Road commercial corridor. It also marks IHOP’s arrival in Durham Region through the combined Applebee’s and IHOP format.
