A Pickering stolen SUV arrest has resulted in several charges against a 35-year-old Toronto man after Durham Regional Police officers located a white Genesis near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road. Police allege the vehicle had been driven dangerously and at high speed before it was found parked on July 22, 2026.
Durham Regional Police Service said members of West Division responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. after receiving a request to assist with a stolen vehicle investigation in Pickering. At about the same time, officers received information about a white Genesis SUV allegedly travelling in a dangerous manner.
Pickering Stolen SUV Arrest Near Busy Intersection
Officers located the Genesis parked near Liverpool and Kingston roads, one of Pickering’s major commercial intersections. Police said the driver was seen getting out of the vehicle and was arrested without incident.
During a search following the arrest, officers allegedly found a quantity of cocaine. Police did not disclose the amount of the substance in their public release.
Investigators later determined that the vehicle had previously been towed by a company identified by police as East Side Towing. It was reportedly taken to what the owner believed was an automotive repair business called AutoFix in Georgina.
According to police, the vehicle was reported stolen after the owner travelled to the listed location and discovered that the alleged repair business did not exist. Police have not released further information about how the towing arrangement was made or whether investigators are seeking additional suspects.
Toronto Man Faces Multiple Charges
Durham police charged the 35-year-old Toronto resident with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime valued at more than $5,000.
The official police release also lists charges of obstructing a peace officer, possession of a Schedule I substance identified as cocaine, driving with an open container of liquor and driving while suspended. The obstructing charge was not included in the supplied article but appears in the DRPS release.
The accused was held for a bail hearing. None of the allegations has been proven in court, and the accused is presumed innocent unless found guilty.
Police have not said whether the vehicle sustained damage or when it would be returned to its owner. No injuries were reported in the public release.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the Genesis being driven in Pickering or who may have recorded the vehicle to contact police. Officers are particularly interested in cellphone recordings, dashboard-camera footage and surveillance video connected to the incident.
