Drivers travelling through Pickering should prepare for temporary lane restrictions on Brock Road beginning Wednesday, July 29.

The Brock Road lane restrictions will affect the southbound curb lane near the Dillingham Road and Clements Road intersection. The work is scheduled to continue through Friday, August 7.

The Region of Durham says the restrictions are required to allow Elexicon Energy to complete infrastructure placement in the area.

Brock Road Lane Restrictions Affect Southbound Traffic

The affected area extends approximately 100 metres north and 100 metres south of the intersection where Dillingham Road and Clements Road meet Brock Road.

Only the southbound curb lane is identified in the official notice. Brock Road will remain open to traffic, and the Region has not announced a complete road or intersection closure.

Access to both Dillingham Road and Clements Road will also remain available throughout the work.

Drivers may still encounter slower traffic when approaching the construction area, particularly during busier morning and afternoon travel periods. Motorists should leave additional time and watch for workers, temporary signs and changing lane conditions.

Work Supports Elexicon Energy Infrastructure

Durham Region says the restrictions will allow Elexicon Energy infrastructure to be placed near the intersection.

The official notice does not provide further information about the specific electrical equipment being installed or whether the work will require any interruption to nearby electrical service.

Elexicon Energy maintains and upgrades electrical infrastructure in several Ontario communities, including Pickering, Ajax and Whitby. The utility says ongoing construction and maintenance projects are intended to support a safe and reliable electricity-distribution system.

Residents or businesses that receive a separate planned-outage notice should follow the instructions provided directly by the utility.

Construction Schedule Could Change

The lane restrictions are currently scheduled from July 29 through August 7.

However, Durham Region notes that weather conditions may affect the schedule. Work could be delayed, extended or completed earlier depending on site conditions and construction progress.

The Region and Elexicon Energy say they recognize that the project may be disruptive and will attempt to complete it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Drivers are being asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction crews.

Check Pickering Traffic Before Travelling

Durham Region’s Traffic Watch map provides current information about construction, emergencies, road closures and other conditions that may affect local travel. The interactive map can also display detours, traffic-camera images and special-event disruptions.

Motorists travelling south on Brock Road should check the map before leaving, especially if passing through the Dillingham Road and Clements Road area during peak periods.

Drivers should reduce speed when entering the work zone, avoid sudden lane changes and obey all temporary traffic signs or instructions from workers.

The Brock Road lane restrictions are expected to remain in place until August 7, while access to nearby roads and businesses remains open.
