The first weekend of May 2026 proved to be an extraordinary period for lottery enthusiasts across the province, as a wave of multi-million dollar prizes and six-figure windfalls were officially confirmed. The headline of the weekend was the announcement that the Lotto 6/49 jackpot won by a single ticket holder in Ontario, marking yet another major win for the “Classic” draw system. As residents from Durham Region to the Niagara peninsula checked their slips, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) revealed that the luckiest ticket of the night was sold in the community of Stoney Creek.

The lucky winner in Stoney Creek matched all six numbers—10, 14, 19, 28, 38, and 44—to claim the fixed $5 million Classic jackpot. This win serves as a major boost for lottery players in Southern Ontario, following a string of high-profile jackpots earlier in the year. However, the $5 million prize was just the beginning of the Saturday night success story. The OLG reported a high volume of secondary prizes that have left several Ontarians significantly wealthier as they head into the new week.

In the highly anticipated Gold Ball draw, the evening’s result was a “white ball” pull. While this means the massive $40 million Gold Ball jackpot remains unclaimed and will continue to grow, it still resulted in a guaranteed $1 million prize being awarded. That $1 million ticket was purchased by a player in London, Ontario. Furthermore, the Classic draw produced a second-tier winner in Kitchener; this individual matched five out of the six main numbers plus the bonus number (40), securing a substantial prize of $222,790.70. For those in Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, the Encore numbers also brought success, with two $100,000 tickets confirmed—one sold in Ottawa and the other in the neighboring York Region.

The luck wasn’t confined to the flagship 6/49 game. The regional Lottario draw saw its own major milestone on Saturday night. A jackpot worth $440,895.30 was claimed by a ticket holder in the Kawartha Lakes Region, which borders the northern reaches of Durham. This regional win underscores the widespread nature of the weekend’s luck, reaching both major urban centers and smaller rural communities. Additionally, the Ontario 49 draw saw two more $100,000 Encore prizes won via tickets purchased through OLG’s digital platform, proving that the move toward online play continues to yield high-value results for tech-savvy players.

For regular players, the focus now shifts toward the upcoming Wednesday draw. Because the gold ball was not drawn this past weekend, the Gold Ball jackpot has surged to a staggering $40 million. If a white ball is drawn on Wednesday, another $1 million winner will be crowned, and the jackpot will climb even higher. However, if the gold ball appears, one lucky player could walk away with one of the largest prizes of the year. The Classic jackpot will remain at its steady $5 million base.

As news of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot won in Stoney Creek circulates, the OLG is urging all players to sign their tickets and use the official OLG app or visit a local retailer to verify their numbers. With so many prizes ranging from $100,000 to $5 million, there is a strong possibility that some winners—particularly those in York, Kitchener, and Kawartha Lakes—are currently unaware of their change in fortune. Whether it was the main draw or the Encore bonus, the May 2nd lottery results have officially set a high bar for the rest of the spring season.
