A lottery player in Toronto has won the 75 million dollar Lotto Max jackpot from the Tuesday, March 3 draw, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
The winning ticket was sold somewhere in Toronto, though the identity of the winner or group of winners has not yet been announced. OLG officials say the prize will be officially confirmed once the ticket holder comes forward to claim the winnings.
The massive jackpot was part of the regular Lotto Max draw held Tuesday evening, one of two weekly draws for the popular national lottery game.
While the 75 million dollar grand prize captured the most attention, several other large prizes were also won across Ontario during the same draw.
OLG reported that two MaxMillions prizes worth 1 million dollars each were also awarded. One of the winning MaxMillions tickets was sold in Toronto, while another was purchased online through the OLG website.
MaxMillions prizes are additional one million dollar prizes that are available when the Lotto Max jackpot grows beyond a certain threshold.
Because Lotto Max is a national lottery game played across Canada, winners may also be located in other provinces depending on where tickets were purchased.
OLG has not yet released any details about the individuals who purchased the winning tickets, and winners typically remain anonymous until they complete the prize claim process.
Lottery winners must present their tickets to OLG for verification before their prizes can be officially awarded. In many cases, winners are later invited to participate in official announcement events where they share their stories about discovering their winning tickets.
For players who purchased tickets for the March 3 draw, OLG encourages checking tickets to see if they are among the winners.
Tickets can be verified in several ways, including scanning them at authorized lottery retailers, checking numbers through the OLG mobile app, or reviewing results on the official OLG website.
After the big win, the Lotto Max jackpot has now reset for the next draw.
The upcoming Friday, March 6 Lotto Max draw will feature an estimated 20 million dollar jackpot.
Lotto Max draws are held every Tuesday and Friday evening, with tickets costing 5 dollars each.
The game has become one of Canada’s most popular lotteries due to its large jackpots and the additional MaxMillions prizes that are often awarded when jackpots reach higher levels.
Players across Ontario and Canada will now have another chance to test their luck in the next draw later this week.
