February 2026 brought a wave of exciting new restaurant openings across the Greater Toronto Area, including two new spots in Durham Region. From waterfront Mediterranean dining in Pickering to Tamil-inspired street food in Oshawa, food lovers have plenty of new options to explore.
Here are four restaurants that opened in Mississauga, Pickering and Oshawa in February 2026.
Stacked Pancake House – Mississauga
Stacked Pancake House opened a new location at the Winston Argentia Centre in Mississauga, marking the breakfast chain’s third restaurant in the city. Located near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Argentia Road, the restaurant specializes in breakfast and lunch favourites.
The menu is centred around pancakes, with more than a dozen varieties including strawberry banana, chocolate chip cookie dough, NY blueberry cheesecake, strawberry Nutella and birthday cake. Guests can also choose from omelettes, eggs Benedict, hash browns, waffles, crepes and French toast. Lunch options include burgers, wraps, sandwiches, salads and poutine, along with a dedicated kids’ menu.
Watr Taverna & Ristorante – Pickering (Durham Region)
Durham Region welcomed a new waterfront dining destination with the opening of Watr Taverna & Ristorante at 590 Liverpool Road in Pickering.
The two-storey restaurant overlooks the bay and offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu in a lakehouse-style setting. Designed for both casual dining and private events, the space combines scenic views with coastal décor.
The menu includes brunch favourites such as lemon ricotta pancakes, Belgian waffles, avocado toast and smoked salmon Benedict. Guests can also enjoy sushi, charcuterie boards, seafood risotto, gnocchi, veal parmesan, steak and lobster dishes. Dessert options include tiramisu, molten chocolate cake and pistachio Basque cheesecake.
This opening adds another upscale culinary experience to Pickering’s growing waterfront district.
Not Too Shabby – Oshawa (Durham Region)
In Oshawa, Not Too Shabby opened at 1812 Simcoe Street North, introducing a Tamil-inspired street-food concept focused on bold flavours and takeout-friendly comfort dishes.
The compact eatery specializes in smash burgers, sliders and loaded fries infused with South Asian spices. Signature items include Jaffna Fries, sliders available in beef, chicken, jerk chicken and mutton curry varieties, and rice bowls featuring chicken curry, mutton curry and eggplant curry.
This new concept brings a unique cultural fusion to Oshawa’s evolving food scene and highlights the diversity of dining options in Durham Region.
The Hangout Bar and Lounge – Oshawa (Durham Region)
Another addition to Oshawa is The Hangout Bar and Lounge, located at 462 Taunton Road West. The venue blends restaurant dining with nightlife energy, offering comfort food and craft cocktails in a social setting.
The menu features Detroit-style pizzas, burgers, wings, tacos, quesadillas and pasta dishes. Signature offerings include the Hangout Fiesta pizza topped with sausage, bacon, chorizo and pepperoni. International flavours such as pad thai and butter chicken are also available.
The venue plans to host weekly community car shows during warmer months, positioning itself as both a dining and entertainment hub in Oshawa.
