The woman stabbed in downtown Oshawa incident escalated quickly, but police were able to locate a suspect a short distance away shortly after the attack. Officers arrested the individual without incident, preventing any further harm to the public.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Rylee Caitlyn Millar, 27, who is described as having no fixed address. She has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. Following her arrest, the accused was held for a bail hearing, where further legal proceedings will determine the next steps in the case.

Investigators have not yet disclosed the circumstances leading up to the stabbing, including whether the victim and suspect were known to each other. At this stage, police have not confirmed if the incident was random or targeted, leaving many questions unanswered as the investigation continues.

The location of the incident, in the downtown Oshawa area, has raised concerns among residents about public safety, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours. However, police have emphasized that the suspect is now in custody and there is no immediate threat to the public.

Durham Regional Police are continuing to gather evidence and are asking for public assistance in the case. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information, surveillance footage, or dashcam video from the area is encouraged to come forward.

Individuals with information can contact Detective Barr of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2703. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online, with the possibility of receiving a cash reward.

The woman stabbed in downtown Oshawa case highlights ongoing concerns around violent incidents in urban areas and the importance of community awareness and cooperation with law enforcement. As police continue their investigation, updates are expected to provide further clarity on the events leading up to the stabbing and any additional charges that may arise.
