A Whitby bus stop robbery investigation has police asking for video and witnesses after a 16-year-old girl was pushed to the ground and assaulted near Rossland Road West and Country Lane.
Durham Regional Police say Central West Division officers answered a robbery call in that area at approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28. The service released its appeal on October 29.
Teenager tried to get away
According to police, the girl was walking to a bus stop when a man on an electric scooter rode past, pushed her down and tried to take her belongings. She ran across the road to escape.
Police say the suspect followed her, pushed her to the ground a second time and assaulted her. He then left eastbound along Rossland Road West on the scooter. The girl sustained minor injuries, according to the release.
The announcement does not identify the victim or specify what, if anything, was taken. No arrest is announced in the material reviewed.
