The St. Leo food drive collected 900 pounds of food for Feed the Need Durham during the 2025–2026 school year.
Durham Catholic District School Board announced the result on September 22 after representatives from Feed the Need Durham and Purolator joined the school community to recognize the campaign.
Students and staff supported the Tackle Hunger campaign
St. Leo Catholic School’s Student Ambassadors took part alongside students, staff and families. The board credited the wider school community’s teamwork and generosity for the final donation.
The campaign was held under the Tackle Hunger program. The school board did not publish a breakdown of the foods collected or the dates of individual collection activities, but confirmed the total weight delivered to Feed the Need Durham.
Feed the Need Durham works with community agencies across the region to distribute food to people experiencing food insecurity. The 900-pound contribution adds to donations collected through schools, workplaces and local events.
The board’s announcement focused on the students’ community service and did not identify a fundraising total or attach a monetary value to the food.
