This free event is designed for seniors (age 55+) to spend an afternoon exploring creativity, trying something new, and connecting with others. Taking place on March 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa, this event offers a variety of fun and low-pressure activities, making it a perfect way to celebrate the season and embrace your creative side.
The event encourages seniors to curate their own program, with a range of exciting activities to choose from. Whether you’re interested in art-making, exploring the gallery’s exhibitions, or simply enjoying a warm beverage, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Below is the full schedule of events for the afternoon:

- 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Drop-in Printmaking Workshop – Get hands-on and create your own prints using foam, ink, and paper. This drop-in session is perfect for all levels and requires no prior art experience. All materials are provided.
- 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Make an Impression This Spring – Celebrate the season with a fun, creative afternoon of printmaking. Using simple, rewarding techniques, participants can explore printmaking with foam, ink, and paper. This easy-to-learn activity is great for both beginners and experienced artists.
- 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Refreshments in Arthur’s – Join us in the beautifully renovated Arthur’s event space, located on the 4th floor, with stunning spring views of Oshawa. Enjoy free light refreshments including hot tea, coffee, and small bites, providing a perfect opportunity to socialize with new and old friends.
- 1:00 pm: Guided Tour of Current Exhibitions – Start your afternoon with a guided tour of the gallery’s current exhibitions, located in the lobby. Explore historical Canadian artworks from the gallery’s permanent collection, along with special exhibitions that feature diverse works by Canadian artists.
- 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: Step-by-Step Drawing Workshop – Join guest instructor Jade Wysotski for a fun and interactive drawing workshop in the Lookout on the 1st floor. Focus on creating a colorful pear using soft pastels, and learn various blending techniques to express form and color. This workshop is suitable for all drawing abilities, and all materials will be provided.
- 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm: The Lookout – Soft Pastel Pears – In this hands-on workshop, explore how to bring a pair of pears to life using soft pastels. This session will focus on expressing form through color and direction, making it ideal for all skill levels.
- 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Lobby – Exhibition Tour – Meet us in the lobby for an exhibition tour featuring historical Canadian artworks. These works are selected from the gallery’s Permanent Collection, along with special exhibitions showcasing a variety of artists.
