The latest Southern Ontario snow 10 cm forecast indicates that another round of wintry weather is expected to impact Durham Region and much of the Greater Golden Horseshoe this week.

According to Environment Canada, a developing weather system is projected to move across southern Ontario on Wednesday, bringing widespread snowfall to several communities, including Oshawa and surrounding areas in Durham Region.

In its significant weather outlook, the national weather agency stated that snowfall will begin early Wednesday morning and gradually spread eastward throughout the morning hours. While general snowfall accumulations are expected to range between five and 10 centimetres, forecasters warn that localized areas could see higher totals depending on storm development and intensity.

The Southern Ontario snow 10 cm forecast covers a broad geographic region. Areas stretching from just south of Sault Ste. Marie through cottage country and into the Greater Golden Horseshoe are expected to experience snowfall. The system is also anticipated to extend south past London and across other heavily populated corridors of the province.

For Durham Region residents, including those in Oshawa, the expected snowfall may create challenging travel conditions during the Wednesday morning commute. Reduced visibility, snow-covered roadways, and slippery conditions could lead to delays and increased collision risks. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and drive cautiously.

Municipal crews are expected to monitor conditions closely and deploy snow plows and salt trucks as needed to maintain primary and secondary roadways. Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks promptly and ensure vehicles are properly equipped for winter driving conditions.

Although the forecast currently calls for moderate snowfall totals, weather systems can shift quickly. Environment Canada noted that while most areas will likely remain within the five to 10 centimetre range, certain pockets could receive heavier bands of snow if conditions intensify.

The Southern Ontario snow 10 cm forecast comes after a period of fluctuating winter temperatures across the region. With February nearing its end, southern Ontario continues to experience typical late-winter weather patterns, including passing snow systems and variable temperatures.

Officials recommend that residents:

  • Monitor updated weather advisories from Environment Canada

  • Check local road condition reports before commuting

  • Keep emergency kits in vehicles

  • Prepare for potential minor service disruptions

Schools, transit systems, and municipal services across Durham Region will continue to assess conditions if snowfall totals increase beyond projections.

Environment Canada is expected to provide further updates as the system approaches. Residents should stay informed through official weather bulletins and be prepared for possible adjustments to snowfall estimates.

As the Southern Ontario snow 10 cm forecast develops, preparedness and cautious travel will be key to minimizing disruptions across Oshawa and the broader Durham Region.
