Registration for the Pickering snow-clearing program for seniors and people with permanent disabilities closes October 16.
The 2026-27 program operates from November 1 through April 30 and provides windrow and sidewalk clearing for up to 750 eligible households.
Who can apply
Applicants must be at least 65 or provide proof of a permanent physical or cognitive disability. They must own and occupy a single dwelling on a municipal street in urban Pickering south of Taunton Road or in Brougham, Claremont, Greenwood or Whitevale.
Generally, no person between 18 and 65 can live in the home unless that resident also has a permanent disability. Applicants with verified disabilities receive priority. Remaining spaces go through an electronic lottery if demand exceeds capacity.
Fees depend on income
Eligible GAINS or GIS recipients pay no fee with proof. Other eligible households pay from $128.82 to $240.69 including HST. Households with net income over $199,900 are not eligible.
Applications need all supporting documents and can be submitted in person, by mail or through the City Hall outdoor drop box. Applications may be accepted after the deadline only if capacity remains.
