A Morden Lane closure in Pickering will remain in place for about three months while a contractor replaces the Krosno Creek culvert as part of a flood-reduction project.
The City of Pickering says Morden Lane will be closed between Reytan Boulevard and Krosno Boulevard from September 21 through December 23, 2026.
Emergency vehicles and local traffic will continue to have access throughout the construction period, according to the municipal notice.
Culvert work tied to flood reduction
Trison Construction Ltd. will carry out the Krosno Creek culvert replacement under City quotation Q2026-22. The work is part of the broader Krosno Creek Flood Reduction project.
Culverts carry water beneath roads and other infrastructure. Replacing the structure at Morden Lane is intended to improve how the creek passes through the area and support the City’s flood-mitigation work.
The closure affects a residential area in south Pickering near Krosno Boulevard. Drivers who normally use Morden Lane as a neighbourhood connection will need to follow posted detours and construction signs.
The City’s notice does not list a general through-route for motorists, so residents should use the official location map and local signage rather than relying on an assumed shortcut through nearby residential streets.
Closure scheduled through December 23
The published schedule runs from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, December 23. Construction dates can be affected by weather, underground conditions or other site factors, and residents should check the City’s service-disruption feed for any changes.
Local access does not mean the road will be open to regular through traffic. Drivers should respect barricades and avoid entering the work zone unless they are permitted to access a nearby property.
Questions about the project can be directed to Pickering’s City Infrastructure Department. The municipal service-disruption line is also available for current closure information.
The City posted the closure notice on September 15, giving residents several days to adjust travel plans before work begins.
