Pickering candidate forum recordings are now available online before voting begins on October 19.
Recordings are available for the mayoral race and local council contests in wards 1, 2 and 3. The forums give residents who could not attend in person another opportunity to hear candidates discuss local priorities before the October 26 municipal election.
The mayoral forum was held October 7. The Fairport Beach Neighbourhood Association, Pickering West Shore Community Association and Rougemount Community and Recreation Association organized the mayoral forum and the Ward 1 and Ward 2 sessions.
The Greenwood Community Association hosted the Ward 3 forum. In Ward 1, the recording covers local councillor candidates because Maurice Brenner was acclaimed as regional councillor.
Pickering’s online voting period runs from Monday, October 19 through Monday, October 26. Election day is October 26.
Residents should use the city’s official election information to confirm their eligibility, voting instructions and any deadlines. The forum recordings are informational and do not replace the municipality’s official voter resources.
The online videos add to the election information already available to Pickering residents by allowing voters to compare candidates’ answers on their own schedule. Viewers can consult the original forum report for links to the individual recordings.
