Three free Pickering all-candidates forums will give residents opportunities to hear from municipal candidates before the October 26 election.
The Fairport Beach Neighbourhood Association, Pickering West Shore Community Association and Rougemount Community and Recreation Association are jointly organizing the events.
Forum schedule
- September 30: Ward 1 local council candidates. The Ward 1 regional councillor has been acclaimed.
- October 6: Ward 2 local and regional council candidates.
- October 7: mayoral candidates.
All three forums will be held in the East and West Salons at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and each forum starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Organizers invited residents to submit questions in advance by September 25. Candidates will answer selected community questions and have time to speak directly to voters about Pickering issues.
Organizer Craig Bamford said the associations hope to build on the forums held during the previous municipal election. Residents can also consult the City of Pickering’s election information for voting details and official candidate information.
