A Pereyma welcome-back barbecue brought students, families, staff, alumni and neighbours together at Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School in Oshawa on September 24.
The Durham Catholic District School Board says the school community gathered to celebrate the beginning of the academic year and reconnect with one another.
Activities highlighted school life
The evening included a community barbecue, local vendors, live steel pan music and lawn games. Student-led tours gave visitors a look inside the school, while clubs and activities introduced families to ways students can participate during the year.
The event also reflected the school’s annual theme, Shining Our Light, which focuses on sharing gifts, supporting others and building hope and belonging.
The school board thanked the families, students, employees, alumni and community members who attended the Pereyma welcome-back barbecue.
