An Oshawa tree planting event is expected to bring as many as 100 volunteers to Conlin Meadows Park on Sunday, October 4.
Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests, known as LEAF, plans to plant about 500 native trees and shrubs beginning at 1 p.m. Registration is free but required.
Volunteers asked to prepare for outdoor work
Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, bring a refillable water bottle and dress for the weather. Extra gardening gloves will be available, although volunteers are encouraged to bring their own.
Native trees and shrubs can strengthen the local canopy, provide habitat and improve the resilience of green spaces. The work at Conlin Meadows Park continues earlier planting efforts at the site.
The event is designed for residents who want a hands-on way to support the community’s natural areas. Volunteers will receive direction at the park before planting begins.
Second planting date scheduled
Anyone unable to attend on October 4 will have another opportunity at Conlin Meadows Park on November 1. Registration is already open for both dates through LEAF.
The Oshawa tree planting is a new fall event at the same park where volunteers gathered earlier in 2026. The October and November dates involve a separate round of planting and current registrations.
