An Oshawa hit-and-run left an adult male pedestrian with life-threatening injuries Thursday morning, while Durham Regional Police later located and seized the vehicle believed to have been involved.
Police and emergency crews responded to the area of Nonquon Road and Mary Street North in north Oshawa at approximately 10:30 a.m. on August 6, 2026.
The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle whose driver allegedly left the scene before police arrived.
The injured man was initially transported to Oshawa Hospital before being transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre with critical injuries.
Vehicle Located After Oshawa Hit-and-Run
Durham police said officers subsequently located the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision.
The vehicle was seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
As of the latest publicly available information, police had not announced an arrest or identified a suspect.
Investigators have also not publicly disclosed what led to the collision or why the driver allegedly left the scene.
The circumstances remain under investigation.
Nonquon Road Closed for Investigation
Police closed a portion of Nonquon Road for several hours while investigators examined the collision scene and collected evidence.
The closure affected the area between Beatrice Street and the section where Nonquon Road approaches Mary Street North.
Members of Durham Regional Police’s Collision Investigation Unit are expected to examine physical evidence, vehicle evidence and any available surveillance or dashcam footage as part of the investigation.
The roadway has since reopened.

Durham police have not released further information about the injured pedestrian’s identity.
No criminal charges had been publicly announced in connection with the Oshawa hit-and-run in the latest available update.
