Outdoor enthusiasts, athletes, and nature lovers are preparing for the return of one of Ontario’s most unique endurance events as the Oak Ridges Moraine Adventure Relay heads back to Uxbridge on June 13, 2026.
Organized by the Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA), the annual relay combines physical challenge, teamwork, and environmental appreciation while showcasing the scenic landscapes of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Participants from across Ontario are expected to gather in Durham Region for a full day of competition and outdoor adventure.
The event will be based at Trail Hub, located at 722 Chalk Lake Road in Uxbridge, and will run from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Throughout the day, teams will travel across sections of the Oak Ridges Moraine, completing relay stages that highlight some of the region’s most beautiful natural areas.
The Oak Ridges Moraine is one of Ontario’s most significant ecological features, stretching more than 160 kilometres across southern Ontario. It provides important wildlife habitats, forests, wetlands, and watersheds that supply clean drinking water to millions of residents. Events such as the Adventure Relay help raise awareness about conservation while encouraging people to experience the landscape firsthand.
ORTA describes the event as a celebration of outdoor recreation, environmental stewardship, and community involvement. Participants will have the opportunity to explore trails, forests, rolling hills, and natural landscapes while working together to complete relay challenges.
The relay is designed for a variety of skill levels and offers multiple registration categories. Competitive athletes can participate in the Elite Full Relay division, while recreational teams can choose between full relay and half relay options. This allows both experienced endurance competitors and casual outdoor enthusiasts to take part in the event.
Teamwork is a central part of the relay experience. Teams can include up to 15 participants, allowing friends, families, coworkers, and community groups to work together throughout the course. Each team member contributes by completing designated relay sections before passing responsibilities to the next participant.
Organizers say the event is about much more than competition. The relay promotes healthy living, outdoor activity, environmental education, and community engagement. Participants are encouraged to appreciate the natural beauty of the Oak Ridges Moraine while learning about its ecological importance.
Over the years, the Oak Ridges Moraine Adventure Relay has gained a strong reputation among outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Many participants return annually to challenge themselves, explore new trails, and support conservation efforts across the region.
The event also provides economic benefits for local businesses in Uxbridge as participants, volunteers, and spectators visit the community throughout the weekend. Restaurants, accommodations, and tourism operators often see increased activity during major outdoor events such as the relay.
Registration options include Elite Full Relay, Recreational Full Relay, and Recreational Half Relay categories. Entry fees vary depending on registration dates and team divisions, with early bird pricing available for teams that register in advance.
Organizers encourage interested participants to register early as spots may fill quickly. Volunteers are also welcomed to assist with event operations, participant support, and trail management throughout the day.
As excitement builds for the June 13 event, the Oak Ridges Moraine Adventure Relay continues to showcase Uxbridge’s reputation as one of Ontario’s premier outdoor recreation destinations. The combination of endurance, teamwork, conservation, and adventure makes it a highlight of the summer events calendar in Durham Region.
Whether competing for a podium finish or simply enjoying a day outdoors with friends, participants can expect a memorable experience surrounded by some of Ontario’s most spectacular natural scenery.
