The search remains underway, and police are asking anyone who may have seen Stephen or knows where he is to contact investigators.

Stephen last seen in central Whitby

According to Durham police, Stephen was last spotted in the area of Dundas Street East and Garden Street.

The intersection is located near central Whitby and connects several residential, commercial and heavily travelled areas of the community.

Police have not provided additional information about where Stephen may have been travelling when he was last seen or whether he was using a vehicle.

No additional confirmed sightings were included in the information released.

Police release description of missing man

Stephen is described as approximately five feet seven inches tall with a medium build.

Police said he is balding, with short hair remaining along the sides of his head.

When he was last seen, Stephen was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and black pants.

He was also carrying a backpack containing boxing equipment.

Those details could help residents identify him if they saw someone matching his description around Whitby on or after Aug. 4.

Public asked to help with search

Durham police are encouraging anyone with information about the Missing Whitby Man to come forward.

People who were travelling near Dundas Street East and Garden Street around the time Stephen disappeared may have information that could assist investigators.

Residents and businesses in the area may also want to check available doorbell cameras, security systems or other recordings from Aug. 4 if police request assistance.

Drivers who were travelling through the area may have dash-camera footage that could help establish Stephen’s movements after his last confirmed sighting.

Even information that appears minor could potentially help police build a timeline.

Missing-person investigations rely on confirmed information

Police investigations involving missing people often involve gathering information from family, friends, businesses and members of the public.

Confirmed sightings and video recordings can help officers determine where a missing individual travelled and identify areas requiring further searches.

Residents should avoid circulating rumours or unverified claims about Stephen’s whereabouts on social media.

Anyone who believes they have information connected to the investigation should provide it directly to Durham Regional Police.

Durham police continue investigation

As of the information provided, Stephen had been missing for approximately one week.

Police have not announced that he has been located and have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Anyone with information about the Missing Whitby Man is asked to contact Durham Regional Police at 905-579-1520.

The story should be updated if police provide a new photograph or description, confirm additional sightings, expand the search to another community or announce that Stephen has been safely located.

Until then, Whitby residents are being asked to remain alert and report relevant information directly to investigators.
