A Good Samaritan was shot while trying to assist the victims of a violent home invasion in King Township, Ontario, on the evening of November 4, 2024. The incident has led to the arrest of three individuals, including one from Oshawa, in connection with the attack.
The home invasion took place just before 6:30 p.m. at a residence in the Paradise Valley Trail and Fairmont Ridge Trail area of King Township. Two armed suspects forcibly entered the home, causing chaos inside the residence. During the disturbance, a 39-year-old man who was not connected to the homeowners arrived at the scene and attempted to help the victims.
The Good Samaritan was confronted by the armed suspects and was shot during the confrontation. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving the victim behind. Emergency services rushed the Good Samaritan to a trauma center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following more than a year of investigation, York Regional Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the home invasion. The arrested suspects include Clayton McFarlane, 44, of Oshawa, Darnyl Campbell, 33, of Grimsby, and Andrew Dove, 39, of Toronto. McFarlane and Campbell have been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, while Dove has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
In their investigation, York Regional Police have released images of the suspects and are investigating potential links between this incident and other similar crimes in the region. Authorities believe the suspects may be connected to other violent incidents and are asking the public for any information that could help solve the case.
Detective Constable Ryan Smith of York Regional Police stated, “This was a violent and reckless act, and we are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions. We are actively investigating any links to other incidents and encouraging anyone with information to come forward.”
