January is Crime Stoppers Month, and this year’s theme—“Safe Streets, Strong Communities… Together We Can Stop Crime”—highlights the vital role residents play in helping police solve crimes across Durham Region.
Durham Regional Crime Stoppers reported receiving 2,086 anonymous tips in 2025, which led to 33 arrests, 25 cases cleared, and 101 criminal charges laid. These tips also resulted in the recovery of more than $600,000 worth of property, cash, and drugs.

Since the program’s launch in Durham Region in 1986, Crime Stoppers has processed more than 51,000 tips, contributing to 4,232 arrests, 4,223 cases cleared, and 12,651 charges laid. Over that time, more than $100 million in property, cash, and drugs has been recovered.
