Durham police have arrested six men in a human trafficking operation targeting individuals attempting to engage with minors. The ongoing investigation, named Project Firebird, aims to tackle the demand for sexual services from individuals under 18 and provide support to victims.
The initiative saw several men attempting to arrange meetings with minors for illegal sexual services in January, despite being aware of the minors’ ages.
The following individuals have been arrested and face multiple charges:

Nickolas Chen, 24, Markham

Sarang Kapdi, 33, Pickering

Leodee Ayoyao, 27, Oshawa

Christopher Smith, 39, Oshawa
The suspects face charges including luring, obtaining sexual services from a minor, and invitation to sexual touching. All suspects were released on an undertaking.
