The Region of Durham’s Community Safety and Well-Being Secretariat is now accepting applications for the 2026 Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Fund Grant program.

The grant program supports not-for-profit organizations and community groups that are leading violence prevention initiatives in communities throughout Durham Region. Funding is available through three distinct streams, all of which are open for submissions from April 27 to May 22, 2026.

Stream Two: Community Strengthening Fund supports initiatives that build stronger, more resilient communities through prevention-focused programs, education and capacity-building efforts across the region.

Stream Three: Intimate Partner Violence and Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response Fund targets organizations working specifically to prevent and respond to intimate partner violence and gender-based violence, providing critical resources for those on the front lines of this important work.

Durham Region is committed to community safety and well-being, a process made possible through the implementation of the Durham Region Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Not-for-profit organizations and other community partners are uniquely positioned to address complex community safety challenges because they understand local needs and have expertise related to service delivery within these specific communities.

The CSWB Fund recognizes that meaningful change happens at the community level, where organizations have deep connections with residents and a thorough understanding of the unique challenges facing different neighbourhoods and populations across Durham Region. By investing in grassroots initiatives, the program aims to create lasting improvements in community safety and overall well-being.

Eligible applicants include registered not-for-profit organizations, community groups and partner agencies operating within Durham Region. Interested organizations are encouraged to review the detailed eligibility criteria and application requirements before submitting their proposals.

Applications for all three streams must be submitted by May 22, 2026. Organizations can apply by completing the official application form available on the Durham Region website. Complete program details, including eligibility requirements, funding amounts and the application process, are available at durham.ca/CSWB-Fund.

For media inquiries regarding the grant program, organizations can contact CorporateCommunications@durham.ca.
