A Lake Ontario boat rescue ended safely after Durham police marine officers escorted three people to shore near Pickering Beach Road.
West Division officers were called after an aluminum boat was seen in distress Wednesday. Marine Unit members training nearby found it far from shore.
Rough water made navigation difficult
Two police vessels accompanied the boat and its three occupants back to land. No injuries were reported. Police did not identify the occupants or say what caused the difficulty.
Boaters should check marine forecasts, carry approved flotation devices and ensure required safety and communications equipment is available.
Information can be given to the DRPS Marine Unit at 905-579-1520, extension 5252.
