Three Clarington Terry Fox road closures are scheduled in Bowmanville on Sunday, September 20, while the annual community run gets underway at Memorial Park.
The Municipality of Clarington says Park Drive, Hunt Street and Nelson Street will close from 9 to 10 a.m. The run is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Roads affected Sunday morning
- Park Drive: Liberty Street to Hunt Street
- Hunt Street: Park Drive to Nelson Street
- Nelson Street: Hunt Street to Nelson Parkette
Drivers should use nearby local roads and allow extra time around Memorial Park during the one-hour closure. Emergency access will remain available throughout the traffic disruption.
The municipality published a route map with its notice and asked road users to plan an alternate route. People travelling near the park should continue watching for runners, volunteers and event traffic after the scheduled closure ends.
The Terry Fox Run raises money for cancer research through community events held across Canada. Clarington’s notice focuses on the temporary traffic measures needed for the Bowmanville event.
