Nature enthusiasts and older adults are invited to experience the beauty of spring during the Biology Walk with Wilf Whitby event taking place on May 11, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Cullen Central Park in Whitby.

The Biology Walk with Wilf Whitby program will guide participants through scenic trails leading from Cullen Central Park into the nearby Heber Down Conservation Area, offering a chance to observe spring wildflowers and local natural habitats up close.

Participants will meet at the north end of the Cullen Central Park parking lot, where the guided walk will begin along the asphalt trail. The event will be led by an experienced guide who will share information about native plants, seasonal blooms, and the surrounding ecosystem throughout the walk.

The Biology Walk with Wilf Whitby event is designed as a relaxing and educational outdoor activity, especially for adults aged 55 and older. It provides an opportunity for residents to enjoy fresh air, physical activity, and environmental learning while exploring one of Whitby’s natural green spaces.

Spring is considered one of the best times to observe wildflowers in conservation areas across Durham Region. During the Biology Walk with Wilf Whitby, attendees may have the chance to see a variety of native flowering plants emerging throughout the forested trails and natural habitats.
